This high-speed shooter had kids glued to their TV screens all over the country.
It's the genesis in a long line of Star Soldier games, and was released for the NES® in the Summer of 1986.
Star Soldier was also branded the official software for Hudson's "2nd National Caravan"*1--an event where game enthusiasts would battle for the title of Japan's Top Gamer.

The 8th National Caravan's official game software. Yet another addition to Hudson's solid lineup of shooter games, Soldier Blade thrilled a ton of gamers in the Summer of 1992. This game is most well known for its bright, flamboyant graphics and intense battle screens.

By now Star Soldier had attained legendary shooter status, and was completely remade for the next gen systems. An additional "Rapid Fire Assistance" function allowed parents and children, or even couples, to play together as a team.
Star Soldier's thrilling intensity was kept intact, only this
time with cutting edge graphics, and a new weapon called the "blaster"
was added to the arsenal. Player 2's controller could be used
to fire the laser, or launch blaster shots, adding a sense of
teamwork to the mix. And of course everybody's favorite Caravan
Mode was alive and well.

At this point, the legendary shooter
had made its way to the PSP--now as a vertical scroller on an
impressive widescreen display! A new generaton of Star Soldier
had been born. That simple, time-tested control scheme of "fire"
and "evade" was kept intact to keep the thrill alive, but this
time an auto fire function was included as a standard feature.
Vertical scrolling on a 16:9 widescreen display opened up a huge
battlefield for shooter enthusiasts around the world.
